WiFi USB Adapter Drivers (OSX/Mac, Linux, and Windows)

After purchasing a Wireless Dual Band adapter from Amazon and trying to use it on my Mac, I ran into the issue of having no CD drive to get the drivers onto my 2015 Macbook Pro. Thankfully, the seller was quick to respond and provide a digital file with the relevant drivers.

These drivers were provided to me specifically for this product:
1200Mbps USB Wifi Adapter YOTECE Wireless Dual Band (2.4G/300Mbps+5G/867Mbps) Network wifi 3.0 Antenna Dongle Adapter for WIN 7 /8 / 8.1 /10 Mac OS X 10.7-10.12.4

They will work with Realtek based USB wifi adapters – which is most of the devices on the market.

A note for linux users: More recent versions of Linux (Linux 18, Ubuntu 16) may have trouble using the provided driver. For Ubuntu users, the set of commands below has lead others to successful use of the adapter. Other linux users, please share your successes or problems with the driver.
sudo apt purge rtl8812au-dkms
sudo apt install git
git clone https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au.git
sudo cp -r rtl8812au /usr/src/rtl8812au-4.2.2
sudo dkms add -m rtl8812au -v 4.2.2
sudo dkms build -m rtl8812au -v 4.2.2
sudo dkms install -m rtl8812au -v 4.2.2

You should have luck using the attached drivers for any of the following devices with 150Mbps,300Mbps, 600Mbps, 900Mbps. Both 2.4 & 5GHz and AC300, AC600, AC900, AC1200+. 802.11ac / 802.11b / 802.11g / 802.11c devices should be good.

  1. Awesome! I have a ANEWKODI 600Mbps USB Wifi Adapter that is working correctly now! Before I let windows 10 find the drivers for me. This would result in the dongle failing and dropping connections. With these drivers it’s A-OK! Thanks!!!!

    • That’s awful, I’ll update the post with a warning. I’m running this exact driver on my OSX Sierra Machine. Have you contacted the manufacturer directly for a driver for your device?

      • This Mac driver works fine for me on several hack PCs with High Sierra 10.13.4 installed. It seems faster to connect than the older version I received from the manufacturer of my adapter (CSL AC1200 wireless adapter). I found it also worked well with the TP-Link Archer T4U V2 AC1300 wireless adapter.

On Windows 10 this driver also works much better than the default Win10 driver. With the default driver it showed 867Mbps but only transferred data at 7Mbps – after installing this driver I was getting 300Mbps actual transfer rate.

        • Can confirm that the driver works fine on my Mac Pro 4,1 (2008) 10.13.4 High Sierra (fresh install; bit of a hack though since Apple does not officially allow installing High Sierra on a 4,1 model)

          Bien cordialement

  3. I am trying to install this driver on Ubuntu Linux. However, to install the Wifi Direct User Interface, the install.sh file references files that are not included in the driver. I am currently searching for a way to get my adapter working, so far I have nothing.

  5. I received a card in the mail. 5.8HZ 2.4GHz 433/150Mbps I have a widows 10 followed directions but no connection using hot spot on my cell. Is this comparable with a 32 bit. Or just a 64. I have exhausted my options.

  6. I use Windows X.

I ordered a generic adapter with the Realtek 8812AU chip from a Shenzhen HuaiYu Technology Ltd in Ali Express.

I downloaded and installed the one of the latest drivers, Version 25, along with the Realtek Wireless Utility.

However, it could not detect any 5 Ghz wifi, and could not connect to any 2.4 Ghz networks which it detected.

I thought maybe try an older driver, so downloaded yours here, Version 15, along with the wireless utility included.

    Still no change.

The seller above won’t reply my queries and complaints and has totally ignored me. Very poor service.

I wonder if your good knowledge and skills may help

On the internet, these Realtek chips, and their drivers, have an extremely poor reputation for connectivity and quality, especially the dual band ones.

    Just Google “Realtek Sucks”.

The Wireless Utility seems to be very poorly designed and programmed compared to, for example, RaLink.

  8. Can someone help? Just finished building a new PC. I got the 1200AC Dual Band Wireless adapter for this reason. After downloading the drivers, the program shows an error message with “Sorry! We do not support this operation system!!”. In the drivers on this site, it states that windows 10 is compatible. Please help!

  11. I used the OS X driver above to enable a Realtek 802.11ac Wi-fi adapter (Anewkodi branded). However, the Network control panel is saying the “cable is disconnected”. Does this mean I have a bum adapter?

I appreciate any insight. Thanks in advance.

  15. For ubuntu Linux and flavors (xubuntu, lubuntu, etc), you do not need to compile anything, just do a “sudo apt-get install rtl8812au-dkms” in terminal and reboot. That is all!! you will see that there is going to appear a new adapter next to the one you currently have!!!! and ENJOY!!!
